please pray for safety (and sanity) for my parents as they are driving up here from texas. they are leaving this morning and should be in boston tuesday night. they will stay until monday, so after we put my apartment together wednesday (i'll take pics), they'll have a few days to play tourist and see what the city is all about.
I am blessed to have parents who are willing to not only store my stuff for me, but then get it out of storage, pack it in a uhaul and bring it to me.

megan's graduation!
CONGRATULATIONS MEGAN!!!!!
quick summary of megan's graduation weekend:
thursday- got to the airport super early (the subway only takes 30 minutes to ride to the airport contrary to what the locals told me) just to find out my flight was delayed
friday- massage by anneke (AMAZING), visit with mom at pantego, nacogdoches with megan (jalepeno tree = AMAZING)
saturday- longest and coldest graduation ever... seriously over three hours of sitting in a gym with the air conditioner blowing on high is kind of miserable... but totally worth it to see megan get her master's...she has worked incredibly hard and put in no less than a million hours of work...congratulations megan, you've earned it!

miss independent
i started my apartment search back in january and was blown away by how much housing cost up here. everything i've found has been way out of my price range or incredibly small or way too long of a commute or in a bad part of town...
fast forward to yesterday: i decided to go look at a place that i had considered in january but was out of my price range. it is in framingham, where i currently live, and is only a mile from the commuter rail- so i'd have the same commute i have now simply substituting the drive to the station for a walk to the station. they have great amenities (a workout facility, an olympic sized swimming pool, tennis courts, a guard shack with 24 hour security, a clubhouse, a solarium, grilling area, a billiard room, a hair salon-random, in between buildings are sitting areas, etc., etc.) and a decent sized one-bedroom (compared to everything else up here). come to find out, they were running mother's day specials on top of their spring specials so if i signed up yesterday i got another $100 off a month (it came to be about $300/month less than they were before) plus a $100 visa giftcard... SSSOOOO....i signed a lease... a 12 month lease...and i'm kind of freaking out cause it seems so permanent

food for thought...
here is a tidbit of Po Bronson’s article in Fast Company this month…
Don’t tell me you know what you want. Of course you know what you want: fulfillment, connection, responsibility… and some excitement. The real problem is figuring out how to get it. Which is hard. Of course it’s hard. It’s supposed to be hard. If it weren’t hard, you wouldn’t learn anything along the way.
If you don’t know how to make the best of a bad situation, you will never get there. If you are not wiling to put up with some shit work, you will never recognize that a good opportunity is staring you in the face. If you are not willing to be humble and repeatedly be a beginner in new areas and learn the details faster than the next guy, you are not capable of transformation. Only by embracing these realities will you be able to answer the question “What should I do with my life now?”

but i sure did
not kidding, i laughed out loud. especially cause when i read the words "sugar coat it" all i could think about was how great some puppy chow would taste.
lately i've been stress/bored eating so this is pretty applicable to my life at the moment.
