for those of you who get joy out of my misery...

this is what my bedroom currently looks like (and it is killing me):

why are the entire contents of my kitchen in the bedroom? because tomorrow pest control comes so the kitchen and bathroom must be empty. why not put it in the living room so it doesn't haunt me as i try to study? because i would hate for somebody to see in through my sliding glass door and think i am messy. also, if i don't comply, they charge me $25 and make me reschedule.

meanwhile, i found out yesterday that UTD is only offering one healthcare class next semester and it is on a SATURDAY. so, besides going to school two nights i week, i have to go to school from 10-1 every saturday for an entire semester.

update

buddy needed a haircut, so in honor of braden, he got a mohawk. cutting actual hair is a lot easier than cutting grass hair

this is about as halloween-y as my decorating gets:

school update: i have two 20 page papers due november 28th (which seems like a long way away, but really isn't) and i am determined to get one written this week. by determined i mean that i really want/need to get it done, but lack all motivation and have tons of other stuff to do. as far as my new class, which i hate, goes- my professor knows my name and really likes me (hopefully meaning he'll give me an "A" even when i bomb my exam next monday)

other news: i am going to start teaching children's church for the 4-5 year olds and am very excited... i also applied for a job at emler's... mavs play the cavs tomorrow... i miss megan

WORD WORLD

let me preface this by pointing out that i only get 2.5 channels on my tv. the other day i wanted to take a nap and so i turned on the tv, but the two channels i get were both soap operas. as a result, i turned to channel 13 (which is my half channel cause it is fuzzy and black and white but you can still see it) and discovered the cutest show ever. word world! everything on the show is created from the letters that spell it and then throughout the show they teach kids how to spell. yes, i am an adult, but i loved it! and if i had kids, they would watch it.

is it just me or did we skip a season? WHAT HAPPENED TO FALL?! the temperature went straight from 90 (technically summer) to 50 (technically winter) overnight.

you might be a school employee if...

okay, so i shamelessly stole this from somebody else, but it made me laugh (especially 'cause i think i thought every single one last year):

You might be a school employee if ….…

you believe the playground should be equipped with Ritalin salt lick…

you want to slap the next person who says, “Must be nice to work 8 to 3:30 and have summers off…

it is difficult to name your own child because there’s no name you can come up with that doesn’t bring high blood pressure as it is uttered…

you can tell it’s a full moon or if it going to rain, snow, hail….anything!!! without ever looking outside…

you believe,”shallow gene pool” should have its own box on report cards…

you believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says, “Boy, the kids sure are mellow today.”…

when out in public, you feel the urge to snap your fingers at children you do not know and correct their behavior…

you have no social life between August and June…

you think people should have a government permit before being allowed to reproduce…

you wonder how some parents MANAGED to reproduce…

you laugh uncontrollably when people refer to the staff room as the “lounge.”…

you think caffeine should be available in intravenous form…

meeting a child’s parent instantly answers the question, “Why is this kid like this?”…

you would choose a mammogram or prostrate exam over a parent conference…

you think someone should invent antibacterial pencils and crayons…

and desks and chairs for that matter!!!…

the words “I have college debt for this?” has ever come out of your mouth…

you can’t imaging how the ACLU could think that covering your students chair with Velcro and then requiring uniforms made out of the corresponding Velcro could ever be misunderstood by the public

UTD homecoming parade

the theme for homecoming this year is "comet royale 007"-- so original. anyway, since i work for residential life we had to make a float for the parade. we decided to turn lindsey's jeep into a temoc submarine.

the front:

the side (notice the amazing periscope and flames):

WOOSH!

in order to make it more submarineish, sarah and samar blew bubbles out the back window. samar was afraid the window was gonna fall on her head, hence the helmet and sarah was singing "we all live in a temoc submarine" off beat... very short bus-esque but hilarious

weekend review

friday i went to see megan. she was gracious enough to allow me to do my laundry at her apartment. in return, i just had to fold her laundry. no problem. while i was folding laundry, i noticed that i folded three of the same shirts in her laundry and mine, which means, in a given week, megan and i wear three of the same things. i'm not sure whether or not we wore them on the same day, but i wouldn't doubt it.

friday night we made milkshakes. i am very jealous she has a blender.

saturday morning megan's car wouldn't start so, like good mechanics, we cleaned her battery (it had nasty smurf-blue fuzz on it) and then jumped her car. btw, aren't our matching cars cute? ry has one too.

then we went to the HSU vs. ETBU game (we matched, but i forgot to get a picture). instead i got a picture of this:

this is what we saw all game. this girl tied her undershirt to her beltloop so she figured she didn't have to pull up her pants.

this is a look of pure joy/excitement:

megan seeing her gift from phil for the first time

she got a monster tetherball

phil posing with his keg of rootbeer i got him:

phil got megan, mom, and i the greatest shirts EVER. this is the back of the hardin-simmons GA's shirt:
the cursive says: "just fiddledikken around."

boring

life is pretty boring right now, which really isn't a bad thing. i have been a very diligent student this weekend and have written 4 case study analysis and 2 papers; which means, as long as i get A's on all them, i am done with writing little healthcare papers for the semester. now, i can concentrate on writing my two 20 page papers (CRAP, FO SHO). tomorrow (monday) is my final exam for financial accounting. hopefully, this class will be my official first A as a grad student. then next monday starts a new class: IT and MIS, which apparently also has quite a bit of writing. this grad school thing kinda sucks. and, i still need a job.

good things: tuesday is the first night of GROW, which stands for God Rewards Our Work and is done through my church. on each tuesday of the month groups of people get together and make home visits, write letters, or make phone calls to people in the community. i am the first tuesday of each month (which this month happens to be the second tuesday) and am pretty excited. also, this coming weekend is ETBU vs. HSU. big weekend for the fam. i will get to see megan and phillip (and haley...i guess she counts now, too).

the knee is doing well. i rode the stationary bike for the first time yesterday. tomorrow i am either going to ride the bike again or try swimming. if i feel real brave, i might do both.

random fact of the day: UTD has 4,560 parking spots, yet sells 11,877 permits. and people wonder why we have a parking problem.

sorry this post was boring. next time pictures?

APALLED!

what is the world coming to?! today in the mail i received free snus from camel along with a guide on how to use it. as a country, aren't we supposed to be advocating NOT using tobacco products since we know how unhealthy they are? instead we are mailing out free samples. by the way, snus is the newest thing among underage kids because it is tobacco in small packets that are really easy to hide and don't require spitting, making it easier to not get caught. i am thoroughly disappointed in whoever is responsible for this, and slightly pissed.

more birthday

GOOD JOB MOM!! when i went home wednesday night, my birthday presents from my parents were on my bed. mom made me an apron and got me a beth moore devotional. i love them both!!

side by side: the apron is black with cherries and green ties

close up of the detailing: it has my name and a cherry applique

beth moore devotional: Jesus 90 days with the one and only

update on the knee: surgery well. it wasn't as bad as the doctor originally thought, which is good. now i am working on walking without crutches and regaining my range of motion. thanks to meg, i am quite advanced.
